Agricultural Education is a great major that offers tremendous flexibility and potential in the job market. Jobs are waiting for you. Most Ag Ed graduates will receive job offers before you graduate for K-State. The major offers diverse opportunity to explore agriculture classes and gives great human relations skills.
Which person are you?

A. Want to attend K-State in Ag Ed.
  1. Set up an appointment and make a campus visit with Dr. Harbstreit (All official visits are done thru the College of Agriculture-Click below).
  2. Follow Steps to Becoming a College of Agriculture Student (This gives you information about applying to K-State, financial aid, housing, etc.)
  3. Visit the University Admissions Requirements.
B. Know more about Ag Ed at K-State
  1. Check out the Ag Ed Web site (Look at the requirements, photo album, Ag Ed Club, etc.)
  2. Set up an appointment and make a campus visit with Dr. Harbstreit
  3. Read the Ag Ed Guide from College of Agriculture.
C. Know more about teaching agriculture
  1. Check the TOP TEN reasons to teach Agriculture.
  2. Read about job opportunities in the field.
  3. Read what teachers have to say about teaching.
  4. Teaching agriculture is more than a classroom.
  5. Read the article Agricultural Education: More Diverse Than Ever, published in the K-State AgReport, spring 2007
  6. Talk to an agriculture teacher about why they love the job.
  7. Schedule a job shadowing experience or day internship as a teaching aide with an agriculture teacher.
D. Might attend a community college first
  1. Check to see which courses transfer to Kansas State University. (Some courses may transfer to KSU, but are not required for the Ag Ed degree.)
  2. Check out the University General Transfer Information.
  3. Articulation guides are available for 2+2 with many Kansas community colleges (The articulation guides are drafts to help students plan - not official - Contact the K-State Ag Ed Advisors)
