What's new on the COE Web →
![]()
We have several new things this month on the COE website:
SustainED: Sustainability Resources for Educators
A repository for sustainability and environmental education resources, featuring lesson plans, books, resource links, recycling hints, people who are making a difference, classroom activities, and environmental education programs/events. If you have any suggestions for inclusion, please contact Mary Hammel or Dru Clarke. This site is available from the COE home page under Points of Interest.
College of Education Student of the Month
The online version of the display case in the lobby of Bluemont Hall, sponsored by Education Council. This page is also available on the COE home page under Points of Interest.
Teacher Opportunities
This is a new page devoted to professional development opportunities for teachers. For starters, we have information about a Summer 2010 study tour to Ethiopia for educators teaching grades 4-8. If you have opportunities like this that you would like to post information about, please contact Mary Hammel. This page is also available on the COE home page under Points of Interest.

Mac Operating System 10.6 (Snow Leopard) →
The College of Education has a site license for the new Mac OS 10.6 operating system, known as Snow Leopard, and we are starting to schedule these installations. But first we must verify that your computer can run the new system…

→ You must do a backup of your computer data before we can do the installation.
→ Your computer must qualify for the installation with the following Requirements:
→ Mac computer with an Intel processor
→ 1GB of memory
→ 5GB of available disk space
→ DVD drive for installation
If you would like to schedule a time to do the installation:
→ Installations are done on Monday through Thursday.
→ Allow 8 to 10 hours for the installation (it may only take 3 hours but it has also taken up
to 10 hours in some situations).
→ Call 532-5926 or e-mail us at catalyst@ksu.edu to set up an appointment.

Food for Thought: 21st Century Bloom's Taxonomy →
During the 1990's a new group of cognitive psychologists, lead by Lorin Anderson (a former student of Bloom's), updated Bloom’s taxonomy reflecting relevance to 21st century work. The graphic is a representation of the NEW verbage associated with the long familiar Bloom's Taxonomy. Note the change from Nouns to Verbs to describe the different levels of the taxonomy. The top two levels are essentially exchanged from the Old to the New version.
