Approved Position Title:  Instructor  (9 month – Full-Time)
Location:  Manhattan
Department:   College of Education, CIMA Center      
Hiring Range:  $36,000 - $42,000 (depending on exp & qualifications)  
Work Schedule:     8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  May involve evening and weekend hours as needed      
Screening Date:     November 2 (continue until position is filled)
Start Date:   December 2009

Job Summary:  The Instructor for the Collaborative Intercultural Multilingual Advocacy (CIMA) Center will teach courses via Distance Education and/or on-campus, grade assignments and provide feedback to in-service and pre-service educators.

Job Description/Responsibilities
Conduct the instruction and facilitation of, and assess participant progress/outcomes in the courses of the CIMA Center and CLASSIC ESL/Dual Language Program, in the Fall and Spring semesters of the Program.

Travel to sites throughout Kansas to conduct opening and closing sessions for the courses of the Program, as scheduled.  

Plan, conduct the instruction and facilitation of, and assess student progress/outcomes in the on-campus courses of the Program, in the Fall and Spring semesters of the Program.

Collaboratively assist the Program Directors in the development of products associated with CIMA Center refinement, renewal, and/or expansion, including:  curriculum, instructional protocols, surveys, auxiliary course materials, assessment protocols, reports, et al.

Collaborate with Program Directors in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of special activities, including SIOP instruction/workshops to support program participants/students

Collect data during course/project interactions in order to professionally inform the evaluator or the statistical manager in the development of annual reports on designated projects.

Required Qualifications --        
Degree:  Masters in Education; ESL Endorsement (preference to persons w/KS ESL Endorsement)
Experience:  5 years teaching diverse populations; Curriculum development
Other Requirements:  Willingness to travel throughout Kansas
Preferred Qualifications:  Excellent oral & written communication skills
