Graduate Certificates

Certificate programs are non-degree credentials designed to provide students with specialized knowledge representing a focused collection of courses that, when completed, affords the student some record of coherent academic accomplishment in a given discipline or set of related disciplines.

Academic Advising Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 15-hour graduate certificate was developed in collaboration with the National Academic Advising Association. The graduate certificate program is designed to prepare students for positions as academic advisors in college and university settings and to provide additional skills and knowledge for advisors already in the field of academic advising.

Adult Learning Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 15-credit hour graduate certificate is perfect for working professionals who would like to expand their skills in the areas of instructional methods, curriculum design, program evaluation, and adult learning theories and principles.

Educational Technology Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 12-credit graduate certificate focuses on the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological processes and resources (following guidelines prescribed by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology).

Leadership Dynamics for Adult Learners Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 15-credit hour graduate certificate is designed for working professionals who aspire to be leaders or have found themselves in a leadership position and want to be more effective leading and interacting with people. By focusing on the human aspects of leadership that MBA programs seldom have time to cover (like emotional intelligence, conflict management, and staff management) students are better prepared to motivate, engage, build, and lead effective teams.

Qualitative Research Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 18-credit hour graduate certificate is offered in response to the demand for trained qualitative researchers at the national and international levels. Students will be introduced to learning qualitative methods from a broad social science perspective so they understand how qualitative research has been taken up in education and other fields. This experience will allow students to make connection between different parts of the inquiry process, thereby developing a stronger understanding of how to conceptualize, execute, and report projects conducted through qualitative inquiry.

Social Justice Education Graduate Certificate (Online)

The 15-credit hour graduate certificate focuses on the principles of social justice education that promote equitable, sustainable and transformative change in various formal and non-formal educational settings. The certificate is based on the concept that social justice is an ongoing, contextual process that impacts inequitable social, economic and political systems through critical examination and intentional advocacy. The program consists of a focused collection of courses that relate to social justice education in school, community and organizational settings, with theory-to-practice central to the program.

Sports Performance Coaching Certificate

This 12-credit hour coaching certificate is open to any student that plans to coach at the high school or community level. The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has accepted the certificate as a substitute or waiver of the American Coaching Effectiveness Program (ACEP).

Teaching and Learning Graduate Certificate

This program is a 20-credit hour curriculum that provides graduate level professional course work in education leading to teacher licensure in the following subject areas: Agriculture (6-12), Art (PK-12), Biology (6-12), Business (6-12), Chemistry (6-12), Earth & Space Science (6-12), Family & Consumer Sciences (6-12), Mathematics (6-12), Modern Language (PK-12), Music (PK-12), Physical Education and Health (PK-12), Physics (6-12), and Speech and Theatre (6-12).

Teaching Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder Graduate Certificate (Online)

This 12-credit hour graduate certificate extends the training of graduate students who have either already completed a M.S. degree in special education or who are currently enrolled in the master's program in special education at KSU and wish to add the autism certificate. The central goal of the certificate program in autism is to provide special education teachers with understanding and skills to provide special education programs for students with autism.
