Since 2012, Kansas State University has partnered with the Ecuadorian government — including the Ministry of Education and SENESCYT, the Ecuadorian governing body of higher education — for the success of the Go Teacher program. This collaboration includes Kansas State University's College of Education; Center for Intercultural and Multilingual Advocacy, or CIMA; and the Office of International Programs. To date, more than 1,000 Ecuadorian educators have participated in the university's Go Teacher program.
The Go Teacher program fosters reciprocal relationships within a global world to effect systemic educational change. Through this program, Kansas State University faculty and staff from multiple departments across campus, in partnership with institutions across the United States, have had the privilege to work with and learn from Ecuadorian scholar-educators to improve language learning for students across continents. Go Teacher affords Kansas State University students and visiting Ecuadorian scholars opportunities to enhance their capacities for cross-cultural communication, critical reflection, empathy, and critical thinking as they build bridges between communities.
