Field Experiences

Field experiences are the opportunity for future elementary and secondary teachers to participate in classrooms around the state. In K-State’s award-winning Professional Development Schools partnership, these diverse opportunities begin as early as your sophomore year so you can determine very early on if teaching is the right career for you. It begins as observation then responsibility gradually increases from teaching part-time to teaching full-time in your clinical semester.

One incredible field experience opportunity occurs on campus each June. The fun and exciting Summer STEM Institute is a partnership between Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 and the College of Education that provides a month-long, science-based series of hands-on workshops for students in 5th-9th grades. K-State future teachers develop lesson plans and apply techniques such as classroom management, student engagement and student assessment.
