The EdRising State Conference will bring high school students from across Kansas to Kansas State University for a day of learning, connection and exploration.

Throughout the conference, students will have opportunities to present in various sessions, participate in breakout sessions, connect with vendors and explore K-State’s campus. Students may also choose to take tours of campus and Bluemont Hall.

The conference will feature a keynote address from Dean Debbie Mercer, along with a variety of sessions and experiences designed to engage and inspire the next generation of educators.

Nelson and Marilyn Galle Dean, College of Education

Dr. Debbie Mercer serves as the Nelson and Marilyn Galle Dean of the College of Education at Kansas State University. A four-time K-State graduate and longtime Kansas educator, Mercer began her career as a library media specialist and kindergarten teacher in rural Kansas.

Since being named dean in 2012, Mercer has advanced innovative teacher-preparation programs, strengthened partnerships with schools and communities, and championed opportunities and support for future educators. Her leadership has also influenced educator preparation across Kansas through extensive service with the Kansas State Department of Education and work related to accreditation, assessment and education policy.

Conference attendees will hear from Dean Mercer during the 2027 Educators Rising Kansas State Conference and Competition as aspiring educators, teacher leaders and education partners from across the state come together to learn, compete and connect.
