District Leadership Kansas Licensure

The Kansas State University District Educational Leadership license program prepares students for initial level endorsement required from the Kansas State Department of Education for leadership positions at the district level including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Director of Special Education. Contact KSDE for information on minimum licensure requirements for specific district level positions or for guidance on reciprocity of licensing with other states. School districts may require position holders to hold district endorsement beyond the minimum as a term of employment.

The district license program may be a non-degree program of study or courses may be embedded in a doctoral degree for those applying to and accepted for admission into a degree program.

Any student pursuing initial District Licensure MUST contact Dr. Mischel Miller at mischel@ksu.edu prior to taking any courses toward licensure.
