Social Studies Education
Welcome to Secondary Social Studies Education! We are excited that you have an interest in teaching social studies. We are well-known program that prepares, and supports, future teachers along their educational journey. Below are just a few things we think you should know about our Social Studies Education program:
- Social Studies is a student-focused, content-rich degree filled with engaging instruction. With relationship-based education as a hallmark of K-State teaching, this degree will help develop you as a teacher who is prepared for the evolving world of education. You will develop key skills in problem-solving, and critical thinking, as you prepare to work in an ever-evolving world.
- The Secondary Social Studies program is unique as we incorporate faculty from the Arts & Sciences in preparing you to be the best teacher you can be. This relationship also allows you to create bonds with students and faculty across different academic departments.
- The College of Education places a high emphasis on the proper preparation of our students to be responsible citizens. As an education student at Kansas State, you will develop skills to help you thrive in the changing global and interdependent society.
