Student Involvement

The classroom is just one part of your K-State experience as there are more than 475 groups, clubs, professional organizations, and honorary societies across campus. In other words, there are hundreds of ways to enrich your time at K-State. There are many education-related involvement opportunities – sign up and find out what you enjoy!

Education Ambassadors

Marcus Kidd, Advisor
The College of Education Ambassadors is an organization focused on educating prospective students about the K-State College of Education programs and help to promote the profession of teaching through various recruitment events hosted on and off-campus. Ambassadors lead presentations, give tours of Bluemont Hall and talk to prospective students about the vast number of support avenues available to EDCATS. Applications are due in February, check your email near the end of the Fall semester for the opportunity to apply.

EDCATS Council

The student council for the College of Education is called the EDCATS Council. It is composed of elected members, student members, and faculty advisors. This council provides professional development learning experiences for students. The Bell Ringing ceremonies during the fall semester and each commencement are coordinated by this group.

Kansas National Education Association-Aspiring Educators (KNEA-AE)

Students in the teacher education program may join KNEA-AE. Members receive several monthly publications from the national and state offices. Members are also covered by liability insurance when they are in the schools observing or working with students.

Kappa Delta Pi – Iota Xi Chapter

Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education, fosters excellence in education and promotes fellowship among those dedicated to teaching.

Education Graduate Student Organization (EGSO)

The purpose of this organization is to provide assistance and support to students working on their graduate degree in the College of Education.

Agriculture Education Club

Brandie Disberger, Instructor
This club supports Kansas agricultural education, including FFA, 4-H and Extension.

K-State Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association

The mission of the Student Chapter of the National Art Education Association is to promote the strong leadership, positive advancement, and professional development of future art educators. Our goals include professional growth opportunities and collaboration among art education students.

SPEDCATS

Dr. Nicole Merrit, Instructor

SPEDCATS is open to all students interested in learning more about providing the best education for their future students with exceptionalities. Meetings are held once a month and will provide information, resources, guest speakers, and service opportunities. Come join us and put the exceptional in exceptionality!

NAfME Collegiate – National Association for Music Education

Open to all Music Education students at K-State. Benefits of membership include educational journals, networking, educational opportunities and supplementary memberships in other music-related groups. Meetings feature guest speakers of professionals in the field of Music Education. The group also puts on fundraisers, provides free tutoring for music classes and hosts Future Music Educator's Day for high school students interested in majoring in Music Education.
