Graduation and Commencement

Graduation

Students should complete a Graduation Requirement Check when enrolling in Block 1 or Block B and submit the Graduation Application through KSIS within the required timeframe. To qualify for Graduation Honors, students must complete at least 60 hours in residence, including 50 graded hours. Seniors with a 3.0 GPA may take up to nine graduate credits. Students are also encouraged to register with the Career Center early to access job listings, career advising, interviews, workshops, and other job-search resources.

Commencement

Commencement exercises are held at the end of the fall and spring semesters, and students are strongly encouraged to participate. Students may participate in commencement before their degree is conferred if they meet the walk-through requirements. For May commencement, students must be on track to graduate in August and have no more than six credit hours remaining. Participation in December commencement with degree conferral the following semester requires special permission from the Director of the Center for Student Success and Professional Services.

Licensure

It is important to apply for a teaching license upon graduation, even though you may not plan to teach immediately or you may be moving to another state. Delaying application for a Kansas license may result in the need to meet new test or coursework requirements at the time you do apply.
