Professional Development Chair, Verónica Royo is a student in the Academic Advising master program. I was born and raised in a medium town in Spain called Zaragoza and there I earned my bachelor’s degree in history of Art. From there I moved to Madrid and to the job market for several years working as a travel agent in and for Public Institutions. In Madrid, I enrolled into a master’s program in Historia Universal Contemporánea at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, decided to learn English and to pursue a PhD in History. I took my doctoral studies at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, in the History and Civilization Department. As a researcher I had the chance to work in a set of archives in Europe and in the USA, to be an exchange student at the LSE (London) and at Madison University in Wisconsin. The latter experienced was life changing. Back at my home University I could applied much of what I had learnt from my on-campus experienced in the USA, finished my doctoral program but put into a rest my thesis to become an Academic Advisor. Meaning to me, to help others to thrive regardless of what the starting point is. So, in the late Winter 2024 I found in my email an official invitation for joining KSU as a master’s student. An ever-curious person, I am a passionate of research, a defendant of Social Justice through Higher Education and of Neudiversity and belonging who thrives by helping others to thrive.
