CAEP Accountability Measures

Measure 1: Completer Impact and Effectiveness (Initial Certification)

The College of Education gathers data on completer impact using both empirical and artistic research designs. We launched an ambitious and ongoing case study design that sampled completers and was designed to gather data concerning completer teaching effectiveness over a three-year period and beyond. Additionally, the College of Education is producing a series of documentary films exploring the working lives of early career teachers who are completers of our programs. A full-length documentary, about first-year teachers called A Walk in My Shoes: The First Nine Months, was completed in 2017, and additional videos are currently in production. We believe this work provides an arts-based research component capable of offering a unique and valuable perspective, both in terms of capturing the impact our completers are having in their classrooms as well as assisting our efforts to improve our programs.

The case study assessment system described above has been designed provide rich data describing impact on P-12 student learning over a three-year period and beyond.
