Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
This special celebration is a time to honor and remember our loved ones who have passed. This is a vibrant tradition where families create ofrendas (altars) with photos, food, and mementos to invite the spirits of their ancestors to visit. It’s a joyful event filled with color, music, and reflection, celebrating life and the memories of those no longer with us.
International Education Week
“This week provides a great opportunity for our university community to learn, absorb and support the international initiatives that make our campus a rich and diverse global arena,” said Grant Chapman, associate provost for international programs. “We hope that all will take advantage and participate.”
Joey Lee Garmon Scholarship
Joey Lee Garmon, an African American male, was born August 20, 1947, in a predominately European American community. In this setting, it was not uncommon to have teachers and students engage in racial abuses in the classroom. When a person from a different racial/ethnic background walked down the street, he/she was often met with racial harassment. In addition, there was overt discrimination in seeking employment as a person of color.
